So one of these bad boys came up for sale on my craigslist. For only $700!

Now I know it's more of a blues guitar, but I'm wondering, do you think I could get some decent distortion tones out of it? Like modern metal type of distortion, or would that be asking too much out of this guitar?

And if I couldn't, would I be able to just switch the pickups and it'd work fine?

EDIT* He's also selling an American Standard Tele for the same price. I'm tempted to buy them both

with the 333xl i'm sure you could. just eq it to taste.

but it depends on how picky you are about the tone. they are p-90 inspired pups with a noise cancelling dummy coil.

best to try it first. maybe meet the guy at a store you can test it with a similar amp to yours?
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

I think either way I'll get it, it's honestly just a matter of EQ to get a good sound out of most guitars. I think I'm gonna meet the guy and bring my amp along.
