Hey, I've been listening to Lulu over the last few days, lettin' it sink in before I go out and rage that it's not an 80's thrash album and make table jokes.
Why is everyone hating so hard on it?

I mean, Yeah, Lou Reed's vocals take some getting used too, but then again, look at modern metal's voice. The incoherent bear-growls, nobody complains.

Look, if you're a Metallica fan, leave your ego at the door. ITS NOT A METALLICA ALBUM.
It's a collaboration; Meaning, they got together with Lou, and jammed for a few weeks, and the end result was Lulu.

Secondly, it's an unorthodox album, because it's based on a drama; not typical musical structure. Therefore, you cannot expect the lyrics or arrangement to be anything like traditional Metallica methods.

Summary of my Rant: If you're a Metallica fan and upon listening to Lulu, you hate it? You aren't 'getting it'.
How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?

Twelve. One to change the bulb and eleven to say they could do it better.

This is the deal my friend.
Many of us have come to this with an open mind.
It's shit.
End of Story.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"
