Hey guys I'm an Irish ug'er who really wanted to build a guitar for a very long while.. I've been having terrible allergic rhinitous issues, and after seeing a specialist, I've been strongly advised to lessen the amount of woodworking I do...which sucks

So..in order to facilitate my dream at a price that won't hurt my wallet, I need to find a european quivalent to stewmac so i can source bodies and necks..

The reason of course been shipping and tax issues...

Any suggestions would be very greatfully recieved...cos right now I'm only comming across very suspect cheapo kits that I respect myself too much to subject myself to :S

why don't you get your local joiners shop to machine the parts to your jigs / specifications and you can then finish them yourself whilst wearing the correct dust particle mask.
European Stewmac..........don't know about that one. Mind you i've never looked.
I will however keep an eye on this thread incase anyone comes up with a good suggestion.

Hand tools with good extraction equipment will help

Thanks for taking the time to reply As for local joiners...there's not really going to be much luck that way...I had my cousin (a carpenter) look into it for me and the wood selection wasn't so great, at least not in terms of sonicly pleasing woods.. (he has about twice the experience and skill as I have, I trust his views enough to know that our local joiners won't be a good avenue)

Never properly looked at Stewmac but www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk may have what you're looking for?

Rather limited in terms of choice, however, it's along the right sort of lines Thanks dude

Try CH guitars

just type into google and it pops up. worth a look.

Had a look at the site previously offered.......one word.......expensive.

These guys supply lots of hardware for my builds athough I have never bought a body or neck so cannot coment on the quality.

Sorry didn't realise you were looking more for pre-built, axesrus.com have a quite a few bits, average quality kinda stuff but pretty cheap money-wise. Wouldn't go for much of their hardware but the bodies and necks are definitely worth a look

Thanks dude I have some uk suppliers in mind for hardware, pair that with some pickups I've made and I'm not really worried about hardware too much, just the wooden elements of the project

Thanks again to everyone that has mentioned sites, sofar it's been an interesting night's reading

I would recommend first checking out tonefactory, they have only strat and tele bodies but very sharp prices. Vox humana is more expensive but they have everything so i dont know what body/neck you are looking for?

I'm fairly flexible when it comes to what sort of guitar I'm building.. Strat/les paul junior/telecaster/prs style...any of the classic shapes really.. I have loads of single coil guitars...so I just want to make something with humbuckers/stacked coils for metal stuff..

(before people say "x plays metal with single coils and sounds great"...it's cool, i understand, my single coiled melody maker plays metal well, just want humbuckers cos i sold a les paul and want to fill the bucker gap..).

I suppose what appeals to me at the moment is a strat body, either hss or hsh, either in Alder or Ash, maple neck, rosewood fretboard..
