I'm pretty new to reaper, but I've used similar software before. My problem is that when using reaper's effects, I can only get a dry signal until I've already recorded and I'm listening to the playback. Is there a way to change settings on the effects before recording and still be able to hear it? If it matters, I'm using a Digitech RP155 with the USB output going into my computer.

what you're looking for is fx monitoring. you could create aux tracks and send them as headphone feeds

Click the little speaker icon on the track you're recording to.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
