I'm convinced that the tone I am looking for is a modded/ hotrodded/ boosted plexi type tone. JCM800 with a boost is just amazing.

what are some JCM (or other plexi) clones that can be found rather cheaply?
let's say I have a budget of $300 for the amp. would prefer a head.
closest big city is augusta, GA
new or used no problem

current gear is:
ESP/LTD EC-1000 (SD Blackouts) or Ibanez DTX120 (stock HB's) or (soon to be) Jackson Alexi Wanna-be (EMG-ALX)
into Peavey VK 212
and POD X3 Live for effects

thanks in advance!

Peavey Windsor head can be found fairly cheap and do a reasonable job of giving the sound you mentioned.

You can find some used Carvin MTS and X100B amps for pretty cheap. They aren't a direct clone of a Marshall, but they are close.

This is terrible advice. Even worse than the useless dry, sarcastic comment I made.

Blackstar is resonably Marshall-ish, and they are affordable.
We should start calling it "The Fact of Evolution", theory, even though correct, does not work with the ignorant..

Not playing with a band, the only type of gig is probably the school talent show and or jamming with friends. mostly bedroom playing

Laney are supposed to have some hot rodded marshall clones, I think the aor 50 is a jcm 800 clone. The Bugera 1990 is a jcm 800 clone aswell

You can get an AOR combo for about $300 if you look around. Much closer to the JCMs than the GH series IMHO.

thanks for all the suggestions guys! are there any jcm800 clones that are made by lesser known companies? or would those be boutique (read that as way-too****ing-expensive)

BlackHeart amps are very Marshally, but I'm not sure about being similar to a JCM 800

I think every one has listed the majority of what is out there in the lower price ranges.

I didn't find the JCA 112 combo I tried to be very Marshally. Seriously, AORs is where its at. Now that I see you have a cab, you could pick up a head version for around $300-400.

Peavey Windsor is my first thought.
Jet city or a laney perhaps?

Or save up for a used JCM800

I don't know US prices though
