i just bought a new bongo from amazon, it has a small rip on one of the skins. Is that a problem? I couldn't find much about skin rips from google, other than a tutorial on replacing skins. The one that was being replaced had a rip two or three times bigger than mine though.
if it plas fine i dont see why you would need to
I know less than dick about bongos or drums in general, so what I'm asking is, are rips a big deal? Do small rips tend to balloon over time? Should I return/exchange my bongos?

A new head is only about $15
If it's ripped, no point in using it, it's like playing a guitar with rusty strings. It's not expensive to replace them so it's all good
i hardly come to this forum but I just want to say that Bongo Skin Rip would be a kick-ass band name. That is all.
If you play it while its ripped, the rip will get bigger over time. Eventually, smacking your own asshole will sound better. I'd change it sometime in the near future.
