I'm trying to make a serious attempt at semi-mainstream electronic music.

Right now I have about 5 minutes of material (1 minute absent from the mp3) and I'm bridging the next part together, but I'm concerned with the transitions I have right now.

And if anyone can give me mixing and mastering tips on the side that would be great since I'm new to that.

EDIT: I'm splitting this into multiple parts, and this is part one.

Also, link updated.

I thought the piece was very well composed. I really liked the intro, the piano sounds magnificent. Your main synth sounds a bit too midi-esque, but it gets the job done.
You're really using the "random" sound effects well, a true staple of dubstep.

Crit mine?

Thanks, I'll take a look at that right away.

All those songs kinda sound the same. They're good! Just a lot of similarities.

I think he meant all dubsteps kinda sound the same, they are hard to make "your own", if you know what I mean?

I thought it was a great song though. Really cool, I like it really really much!
Have you made more? It sounds alot like old blip-blop game music (SNES/Amiga-style).. which I also like.

woooooooow
totally loved it man. reminded me of the classic RPG days ahha.
the composition is overall very well done, and imo sounds like the perfect mix of skrillex, pendulum and video games.

the only criticism i have would be that the drums machine and synth programming you use could be ALOT better using simple VSTs- although i have to admit that some sections definitely suit the sounds that you use.

just a question, what method did you use to program this, and did you just use straight midi sounds?

Actually I think I know what he meant- I have like 7 or so tracks of different theme sections on my profile that are 7 seconds long that were meant to be part of one song but were never compiled or used. They're just kind of sitting there.

I've made some electronic music, but really the only one that's almost entirely electronic is this loop here. I'm trying to learn more about how waves work/automations and stuff and this is the perfect way to do it.

(Also, to your second post - the song isn't done yet. I'm adding in more material and scratching the multi-part idea in favor of making an academic-friendly submission for IB. You can use it but I'll have the finished version soon.)

Will check those out right away.

The drums are actually straight out of FL studio packs - just combined to give them a different timbre (like most dubstep, but with 3 of each percussion instrument instead of 2).

I programmed this note by note in the piano roll. It's just a habit I have, I never record it via midi even if I can play it :P

Also, will c4c right away.

Well I think it's really awesome though. It has alot of great melodies and rhytmic ideas. But it is OK I share it?

BTW, PM me if you post something new, I really think you did great composing on this song.

Nice job. Altrough i think the main synth sound a little to distorted for my taste, i have nothing to say about the songwriting... The rytmic parts at 1:55 really gets me, altrough i sont usally listen to stuff like this Wish it was longer!

Can you please leave a comment on my prog song "carpal tunnel syndrome?"

Wiz,
Since you reviewed 2 of my songs, I thought I'd review another of yours (thank you). Overall, I'm liking this tune better than your other song: this sounds quite good! I can't think of anything significant to gripe about. I think this song is pretty innovative & creative & trippy. Nicely done!
