But its another one of those oh so common "What guitar?" threads that we have going perpetually around here.

First off, my current set up is kind of lame, but I'm a bedroom player, and have no reason to treat myself to a $1,000 dollar amp/cab setup...

My main amp is a Fender Frontman 25..not very high on the amp quality scale, but it handles my needs...

I have access to a Marshall 4x12 with a JCM 2000dsl head, and a Mesa boogie 4x12 with a Peavey 6505 head.

Anyway, I need a guitar that I can didicate to drop c/ drop b...as I current only have one that can fit that bill.

Anyway, here is what I play

Bullet for my Valentine
All That Remains
Pantera
Five Finger Death Punch
Slipknot
Mudvayne
As I Lay Dying
Trivium

Ect.

Budget=$700~$800

What the Guitar MUST have.

Reverse Headstock
Maple Fretboard
25.5" scale OR LONGER

What I would Like it to have

Hardtail- Not that I don't want a FR, its just I have never used one before and am hesitant to have one, because I want versatility in tunings.

Passives- Again, not a huge deal, but I do plan on switching it over to BKP about 6 months after I get it, so passives is kinda big.

Larger Frets- I have an accoustic with tiny frets, and I hate it...24 frets is also a want, but not a need, but I would think with a 25.5" it would be 24...

Superstrat- Preferable because I don't want to have to get somthing that looks like I'm going to go beat someone to death with it. I would be fine with other shapes, just no crazy shapes like the BC Rich Draco or anything...I am very partial to Rhoads V's though. Body wood would preferably be mahogany

Pickup Configuration- HH or HSH, prefferable not HSS, but it really doesn't matter all too much.

I really don't have any preference to brands or inlays, but no inlays is always a plus....

Thanks guys!!!

I dunno how you'd go about finding one but one of the old Paul Gilbert sigs seems right up your alley (dunno about pricing). I think it was the PGM301. Ibanez RG shape, maple fretboard, reverse headstock, passive HSH pups, 24 frets, probably a 25.5" scale. - Fixed bridge too; unlike the newer model.

Nothing else is really springing to mind for me. I know you can get maple fretboard Ibanez RGs, and ESP M series - so they'd be good but they would have floyd style trems.

EDIT: V was also going to mention custom stuff too. Maybe look into Warmoth? They could make a guitar like that, but again price might be pushing it.

sounds like you really want something custom. maybe Carvin would be the way to go, but i dont know how much everything costs. and how that would fit into your budget.

sounds like you are looking for some form of a Jackson Dinky. i had a DKMGT and it was pretty nice. the DKMG has the trem. the only downside here is that you wont likely end up with a maple board.

It took me a long time, and presented a challenge for me (I'm usually very good at finding stuff), but I finally found your guitar.

i dont know how i feel about some of the new BC Rich guitars. i have never owned one, every one i play is terrible, but a few of you guys have faith in their newer productions.

the only bad thing about that guitar is i am sure you would want a pickup swap. dont know about the neck joint, i have no problem with bolt-on guitars, but they aren't a lot of fun in the upper registers unless its carved a little bit.

dont know the quality of the hardware.

did you look into carvin at all? i am thinking they may be a little pricey, but they have a cult following.

Ok..thanks guys...so far we have

Ibanez PGM301

(Invalid img)

and the BC Rich Zoltan Bathory ASM

and the ASM2

(Invalid img)

I think I could take having an OFR and gaining a set neck with the sig model...

I went ahead and checked up Carvin, and I found something that I really like..only its much too expensive...

Anything else you guys can think of?

Thats also pretty close...only problem is the lack of a maple FB.....and active pickups..kinda was leaning toward passives

Thanks oneblackened..I had forgotten about Rondomusic.

Any other idea's??

Why exactly must it have a reversed headstock?

My three current guitars have 2 things in common..

Rosewood Fretboards
Regular headstocks (Lp style and Strat)

I wanted this to be something different...but if it had everything else I was looking for I'd probably overlook the headstock being the tradtional shape.

You can swap for passives later, nothing preventing you from doing so.

^ Good find. I figured Rondo would have something but there's like 15 pages of 6 string guitars. I usually just look at their 7s and 8s.

Here's an M series like I mentioned:

S'got a trem, but it's bolt on. But still, reverse headstock, maple board, passive pups....
