Hey guys, I've got about $1000 (USD) for christmas this year, and I wanted to hear some suggestions for versitile guitars, with the best possible sound quality for this budget. Any suggestions work, no specific requirements... GO!

Piano dick had some good parts, but should have said "As the business man slowly gets boned", would have accented the whole dick feeling of the album

I play a lot of hardcore punk (Anti-Flag, Bad Religion, Black Flag, NOFX to name a few), I very much enjoy solo work and am starting a prog band (Mix Dream Theater, BTBAM, THA, that's the style I'm going for), and have a devout love for jazz music, and am playing in the jazz band. Probably nothing like a PRS for that but ssssshhhhh... I don't have the money for one of those...

Any standard or slightly different than standard shape is fine, just no crazy wierd shapes, and I personally like passive pickups, if floyd rose is required for tremelo, than I choose hardtail. I'm pretty indifferent to tremelo as long as there is no Floyd Rose, I hate them soooo much.
