The only requirements I have is a thin neck and dual 'buckers.

I know it may be an oxymoron but am looking for the best constructed piece for under 400.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely check LTD out. Their distressed models are great, only $399.00, The best part is that you can get them on ZZounds and get the payment plan. $99.75 each month for 4 months.

Trust me , you wont regret it. You can upgrade the pickups later if you want.

My first electric was a Yamaha Pacifica 120sj (HH, 1 vol 1 tone). Still have it 6 years later. I think it was about 250-300 CAD. I'm pretty sure they just stopped making them but you can probably find one secondhand. I really love it, the neck feels really good and it sounds absolutely dirrrrrrrrrrty overdriving my amp. With the money left over you could drop in some bomb dimarzios.

Used Carvin. They can often be found for $399 and are USA made custom shop instruments. Here's my Ultra V. Thin neck, neck-thru, locking sperzels, string-thru body, birdseye fretboard, the works. Cost me $399.99 with case, near mint. Currently one of my top 3 guitars.

Custom guitars, vintage amps, boutique pedals. Blah, blah, blah.
