A band called Cormorant is doing something similar. They've been approached by several labels but decided to keep self releasing: They don't care if people download their stuff for free (even giving away their first album for free), but encourage people to buy it if they like it. I just got their second album bundle in the mail today: $35 bucks for a shirt, signed poster, CD and a few stickers. Their vocalist/bass player has an account on this site. If you contact him, he'd tell you about it: http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/TheTiberian/

The second part of this interview also deals with this.

Come to think of it, my penis should've listened to more death metal.

So my question is. Can Pre-Cum fluid pass through my underwear, my jeans, onto and through her jeans, through her underwear, and impregnate her?

On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

Very interesting -- thanks for the head's up, I'll see if he doesn't want to chat about it. The metal scene to me is particularly interesting because of the devotion of the fans, despite the near super-saturation of the genre. In my uninformed opinion, it seems second only to singer-songwriters. That may also be cause I'm close to cities like San Antonio, which are without a doubt huge metal scenes.
