Hey guys,
I'm 15, been playing since June and loving it, traded my iPod Touch for a used Squire with an SP-10 amp.

I'm wanting to get a new amp pretty bad, and I've kind of narrowed down my choice on a Line 6 Spider. It's between the 15W and the 30W, and I'm stuck and was hoping someone could help me out.

Money is tight, and theres a $80 dollar price difference between the two. I'm only practicing now (rock/metal mostly, some blues), the only time I'll be performing is in my schools Jazz Band in several months.

I'm definitely mainly concerned with the quality of sound I get out of my squire then the loudness.

Any advice?
Thanks

Don't get the Spider, it's a bad sounding and bad quality amp. Get yourself a Peavey Vypyr or a Vox Valvetronix (Probably the Vox if cleans are more important) it's miles ahead.

And sorry...but you got a bad deal trading your touch for that amp.

The only real answer to the SG vs Les Paul debate is to get a Flying V and laugh at all the suckers who don't have one.

To put it bluntly, what you're asking is the same as "shit vs crap".

The distortions in the Spider are digital sounding and harsh, the effects are cheap and lame and for the price the Vypyr kills it.

That's not a bad deal on the Vypyr, I'd snap it up.

if your playing mostly metal and rock but also need decent cleans for a jazz band as you said the vyper is a definite win. The distortion models on it are much less harsh and scratchy sounding then the line 6. the vyper also had superior cleans to my ears.

Yeap they're pretty much spot on with the Vypyr. Or you could get a Vox Valvetronix, they're pretty good too.

the 15 is crap, the 30 is louder crap with more effect. seriously, get something else because as your ear will get better, itll just sound worse over time.
