I know there's one that's not usb for at2020, I have a pod ux2,

and I'm wondering if the mxl 990 vs at2020 is a good comparison,
the mxl 990 comes with shockmount and case, with a price of 60$..

and at2020 is 100$ off MF, and the usb one is 150$ i think..

what's the difference between using usb and a cable?, is it noticeable?

lemme know your suggestions.

i have heard more negative about the mxl990 than the at 2020 but haven't ever compared the two personally

i prefer cable over usb just from the experience of using a guitar to usb cable at one time in the past. i have never used a USB mic for recording, so i guess i would go XLR instead of USB

I've actually compared the 2020 to the 990. 2020 wins hands down in my opinion. If you already have a UX2 you'll be much better off with the regular version and skip the USB.

I'm just looking for one that comes with everything in a bundle like on ebay, I saw a at2035, also.. is that better? might as well go regular to, XLR.

AT2020 if I had to choose. I used to have the 990 and it's not particularly good at anything.

For $50 more, you could get a used AT4040 and have a mic that would last you much longer than either of those.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
