Hi
After 10 years of not playing I have decided to pick
it up again and form a garage band for fun. I have
an Epiphone Les Paul custom. I need to buy an amp.
I do not want used. I want a Zakk Wylde type of
sound. Lots of bottom end. Chuga chuga squeal!
It's what I like. Amp needs to be powerful enough
to play with drummer. Budget is $500.
Thanks!

Montreal.
I'd rather go new. Bought a used peavey years ago and
had problems.

Which peavey?

It's burried somewhere in my parents garage. Havent seen
it in over 10 years.
The sound that i am looking for is exactly the
opening riff on Pull Me Under.
I used Zakk as an example because i love that
bottom sound.

I doubt your used story then.

going used opens up a huge market of old, but awesome amps

In that case, i am open to suggestions for used. Tomorrow

You could get a Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 for 450 new, or save money and go used. And throw a Sanpera II footswitch on top of it

Any used or new Marshall amps in that price range?
I had Peavey all my life and want something different.
Growing up, I never had a lot of money, I wanted a Marshall amp SO bad.
My friend had a JCM 800, I was so jealous.

Marshall? $500?

Nothing worth getting in that price range.

I suggest saving up. You could always look at the Jet City Amps.

Remember, Marshall isn't the only brand

Between a Jet City and a Roland Cube? Which will give more of a Chuggah Chuggah Squeal sound, LOL!

Totaly diff than a Marshall.

Take a look at the Peavey Windsor studio 1x12 combo. It is basically a Marshall JCM 800 clone. ZW uses a hot rodded JCM800. Also look into a tube screamer type pedal to boost your signal. The Ibanez TS9 is nice at $100, but if $$ is a condition the Digitech Bad Monkey is good and only $50 new.
2002 PRS CE22
2013 G&L ASAT Deluxe
2009 Epiphone G-400 (SH-4)
Marshall JCM2000 DSL100
Krank 1980 Jr 20watt
Krank Rev 4x12 (eminence V12)
GFS Greenie/Digitech Bad Monkey
Morley Bad Horsie 2
MXR Smart Gate

I can raise my budget to lets say $750...would that help?

Peavey make really good durable tube amps, and they are on the lower end of the price spectrum. But it is your choice on what to buy.

Blackheart little giant with a ts pedal might work good.

I say take a trip to a music store with a good selection of amps, try them out with YOUR guitar and see what you like or dont like. Then you can make the choice based on 1st hand experiance.

You can probably find a used JCM 800 1x12 combo in your budget, or the Marshall Studio 15 (mini JCM 800)
2002 PRS CE22
2013 G&L ASAT Deluxe
2009 Epiphone G-400 (SH-4)

Current Rig:

Eppy SG w/Swineheads, Marshall DSL 5c, Joyo Vintage OD, Joyo British Sound, Sounds Sounds Fuzz Face, GGG Guv'nor, Dr. Boogie Pedal, Crybaby in Red Sparkle, Digitech Hardwire Delay

The things I would do for a Les Paul...

Well it probably won't sound very much like BLS tone, but the Jet City is the way to go if you want pinch harmonics:

Raise your budget a bit and go for the JCA5012 (NOT 5212c). That will give you a closer sound to what's in the above video and is more versitile. If not, the JCA2212 should do the job.
