I have no clue how to read this formula and was wondering if someone could explain it to me.

It comes from this page and is super confusing. A little insight on the math behind this would be really helpful too, if possible.
The dot represents 'multiply'.

5^1 = 5 (^ means raised to the power)

2^-2 = 1/4

5^1 . 2^-2 = 5/4

Then multiplied by fC, which is a function.

EDIT: I just checked the original article. fC is not a function, it's the frequency of the "base note".
