This might sound kinda stupid. I was playing through an ampeg BA-108 (I think that's it... 15 watt, 8" speaker..) and it had two . One for normal input, and another with a -15db cut. I ran my active peavey millenium into the normal input, boosted the mids, and it made a lemmy-ish, guitar like distortion. Sounded really cool, actually. But when I turned up the volume, I started to smell something burning. So I shut the amp off. Was is the active pickups that made this happen? Would it not have happened if I ran the -15db input?

Nope, the cut is for actives who have much more initial gain already introduced. Also a 15 watt amp with an 8 inch speaker probably doesn't have much give, and your driving it to sound like lemmy with an active bass in the wrong input.

Yeah... Kinda figured it would be something like that. Still sounded really cool, though! haha
