So my band wrote a surf song in the key of F major, I get a solo, and I want to use the technique used in Misirlou, (song at start of pulp fiction for extra reference) and I know he uses a weird scale like the double harmonic I think, I was just wondering how I could do a solo using that technique, but producing some of that same interesting kinda indian erotic music...would I just play with this as an F double harmonic scale while F Major stuff is going or would I change some mode of the F major scale so it fits better?

Please help :P I know my theory, but I haven't gotten to a point of full understanding, so thanks in advance

Techniques forum in the future bud. I'll put in a move request.
Music is an art form that celebrates potential. So long as you're looking for it, you'll always find it.

the notes F A and C are all in F double harmonic, so yeah. you'd be fine playing it over F major. don't put an actual chord progression under it though if you want it to sound exotic. the music that all is based on is just modal stuff with a drone. either have the harmony doing just an F major chord or just an F5.

although it might be cool if you do the double harmonic thing over: I V with V being C7b5

Thanks primus, and sorry if that I put it in the wrong place, I guess I thought song writing was theory too, but I'll watch that next time.
