I've recently invested in a new amp and some new pedals, but my amp lacks reverb and the only pedal I have that features reverb is an old original Zoom 505 Guitar Multi-FX. Which brings me to two questions:

Question 1: Does anyone have any knowledge about the Zoom pedal and if it would be a good choice for reverb? IIRC (i haven't used it in a long while) it's reverb wasn't the best, and I don't think it's true-bypass.

Question 2: Can you recommend me a reverb pedal? I'm looking for something that sounds natural and can be really subtle, as I don't like to flood my sound with echos or reverb. I just want to add it in to throw in a bit of depth and character. It would be nice if I could alter whether it was deep/dark to crisp/bright.

My budget would be preferably in the $100 range, but up to $200 if the quality would increase that much.

Genres is everything from Stevie Ray and Clapton to Lamb of God and Children of Bodom. I doubt this matters for a reverb pedal, though.

I prefer to buy my pedals new, mostly because they are called stopboxes for a reason. I can always browse used, though, as I'm open to just about anything

This would be for use at home and at gigs and full band practices. We have our own small PA that we use, although I don't see that mattering in this situation.

My location is Athens and Tuscaraws County (College and Home) and I don't like craigslist much, although I am willing to check out deals on there.

Thanks for your help

the herrmida audio reverb sounds nice, i was going to get one, just never ended up getting one. $100 from their site IIRC and last i checked.

if you like spring reverb, there is the malekko chicklet

but this is what i would get (its $217 on PGS, i am sure you could find it cheaper the Cathedral Reverb from EHX. ( http://proguitarshop.com/electro-harmonix-cathedral-stereo-reverb.html )

it is absolutely insane, and you will never need anything more.

I hear good things about the Boss 63 Fender Spring Reverb pedal and also the Electro Harmonix Holy Grail. These pedals tend to be around $120- $150 depending on where you buy them. They would be worth looking into

-1 on the holy grail, sterile lifeless and just doesn't sound good.

ya probably the little one. Im talking about the Holy Grail Plus. Seems like it would do everything TS wants and doesnt sound that lifeless.

i was talking about the original. which sound better than the plus you linked still sterile to me.

feature wise, the holy grail does not touch the cathedral. you can get preset button so that saves your favorite tones. tap tempo is also a very convenient. it also has a function that you could use like the freeze pedal does now.

TS get what you want and feel comfortable spending. buy off TGP there are sooooo many pedals that go for cheap, sometimes even less that half new.

I actually remember looking into the Cathedral Reverb forever ago and it looked pretty wicked. IIRC, there was this video with it, a synth, and maybe a delay that sounded like something from mars and was completely awesome...I'll have to see if I can find it.

Yeah, I watched a bunch of Youtube demos. I'm really digging that you can set a preset for each setting and how much versatility this thing has. The reverse mode is just ****ing cool. Trippy, but cool. I'm gonna look into some of the other suggestions, but there was a reason I used to drool over this pedal, and now I remember
