It costs too much to have apple fix it. I saw videos of people replacing the screen on youtube, but I want to make sure that it works before I blow money on a new screen. Anyone have experience this this kind of stuff?

Walk into Apple store. Be a badass. Take one for free. Go get some ass.

That's what I've done. Granted, I've usually got escorts, but, meh, details.

Mine's been cracked for 2 years. Like seriously.
It works perfectly fine.

My friend sent his back to Apple every time with a BS excuse about how his iTouch screwed up on its own. He has successfully done this six times and got an updated, new iPod touch every time.

Try it.

Yes it will work. Order a new screen from China for 8 dollars or whatever it costs and do it yourself. The repair job might result in having minor annoyances like lint behind the screen. Not that big of a deal.

Of course this is assuming that you have decent dexterity.

I have an Ipod classic that recently lost the ability to turn on? any ideas? I should just upgrade to one of those newfangled touchscreens, but if it's a cheap fix, I'm not gonna bother.

Try going into the Apple store. I cracked my iPhone screen earlier this year. I bought a repair kit off of eBay and was going to do it myself, but my sister (who works for Apple) told me to try my luck at the Apple store. I went in and the guy gave me this long speech about how it's a $250 repair but I seem like a nice guy so he'll do it for free, etc. So he tried to fix it, messed my phone up more, and I ended up with a brand new iPhone for free! So I recommend you go into the store and see what they say. The worst they'll tell you is that you have to pay, at which point you can just leave and fix it yourself.

Itouch? The screen on my gramophone is yet to break, so therefore, it must be better.

I soldered the freakin' WiFi chip back on the motherboard on my old iPhone and put in a new battery ($3) while I had it apart.. Swapping out the screen is easy.

Anyone noticed the deliberate construction fault and market capitalisation that makes it more profitable because people will just buy a new one?

And the fact that he used the word "Gay" for negative connotations towards something means he's a homophobe. Jerk.
