hi guys,

im planning on getting a guitar/vocal microphone soon and i seem to be set on a Shure SM57 but i recently found out about the GLS ES57 which is a SM57 cloner. i just want to know whether the price difference is actually reasonable/justified or whether the GLS ES57 is just as good.

what do you think?

Not familiar with the GLS microphone, but I am familiar with the SM57 and SM58. Just remember the old saying, "you get what you pay for."

If you want Shure quality, why not buy a Shure?

Well you get what you pay for when it comes to recording gear. You don't see any top of the range studios stocking Behringer interfaces and knock of SM57's do you? If there's only a $35 margin between the prices I don't see why you couldn't make the stretch and get something you know will work in a weeks time.

57 is for instruments and 58 is for vocal, generally speaking. both are industry standards. youll get a lot more for your money out of either of these. also try craigslist and ebay, you can pick one up for 50 that way, theyre not rare or anything
