To export a GP5 drum track as an Mp3 if I just download the song from UG...

Make sure only the drum track is on (mute the others or press the S button on the drum track in GP) and then go File - Export - MIDI. Once the drum MIDI is exported, find it wherever you put it and open it with itunes. Then right click the track and select "create mp3".
If it doesn't say mp3, if it's another kind of format then go Edit - Preferences - General - Import Settings - Import Using Mp3 Encoder and then right click the song and convert to mp3. This is all assuming you have the latest itunes.

On vocals, do you judge the difficulty category on how hard it is to sing (taking into account range and versatility), or just how complex the guitar part is?

the forum members are the judges. we get to vote. there are no judges. so it's probably more on how you will appeal to the pitmonkeys.

I think he means what is the difference between an "easy" vocal song and a "hard".

More specifically, would the person running category placement know the difference.

I'm gonna do Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple. I've got learn that coz it's a classic.

I guess it comes under easy. I might have trouble getting it on youtube, so don't be surprised if I don't make it.

More or less. A song like Sequoia Throne would rank difficult given the extreme range and frequent changes in time signatures. A song like Patterns from The Human Abstract, however, would not be nearly as difficult.

My mind is full of fuck, I'm 99% sure I already signed up for this a couple of days ago.

This. I'm pretty sure someone did.

My only question, would screaming be allowed in the vocal section of this competition?

Yeah I'm pretty sure people have done it before, but if the whole thing is monotonous growling then it isn't going to be considered very difficult.

Oh no no no no.
I was thinking something along the lines of Shogun Era Trivium, Perhaps something by All That Remains.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Yeah, that would be me. I posted in the old thread asking if I should do this month. Got a reply saying go for it. Niejel (who normally does this) seemed to have fallen off the radar. Made thread. Niejel suddenly returns. I delete old thread. He remakes it.

EDIT: Stick me down for Shallow - Porcupine Tree, Guitar, Easy.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

Good.

I like my women how I like my guitars. Curvy and like it when I finger them.

Berserker by After the Burial is a bitch to do, I did it last month... just.

Vendetta if you pulled off Viking Kong I'd be impressed, bloody good song.

Shameless self promotion here, last night my new band played our second ever gig. Our setlist included Viking Kong and Technical Difficulties. Here's a link if anyone is interested

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tGSHXVf-7M

Oh also I really hope I can submit mine, but I can't promise anything. My amp and pedals are at the venue still with the rest of the equipment and my guitar has been dropped off to be fixed. I go home (from uni) on Saturday so after then I should be clear.
