I have seen several videos the last weeks about right hand technique and how to hold the pick (sounds stupid but it is important!). I have played for a couple of years and I play with my preferred right hand technique and hold the guitar pick so it's comfortable.

Some of the videos with good information about how he prefers to hold a guitar pick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx3Tzuoq3Xg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCaDpAX7BQ0&src_vid=Mx3Tzuoq3Xg&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_348049
When I tried some new ways to hold the pick it actually seemed a bit easier (I think :P)

I play a lot of Metallica (lots of down picking) and I am playing fast stuff like Master Of Puppets and That Was Just Your Life so that is the main reason for why I mention this in the forum.

Q: How do you prefer to hold a guitar pick?
Q: What is your preferred right hand technique?

(If you have questions about this thread ask instead of complaining and all answers are welcome.)

Thanks!

It depends. Sometimes i'l hold my pick with two fingers, but sometimes with three to add stability. Sometimes i'll place my pinky on the guitars body to help with playing, sometimes i'l let my pinky float wherever.
