Hi all,

Was just wondering if the tuning stability of FR saddles where the ball ends are kept and the string passed through the saddle instead of clamping with a block and bolt were just as good as the normal ones?

I'm assuming you're referring to single and double locking; single would be the first type you described where the string passes through the saddle, no cutting the ball end, double being the latter where you do and is clamped down.

The short answer is double locking generally holds its tuning much better. But if you're only doing slight trem usage then single locking would be fine.
