I am going to build a project guitar soon, most likely either a V or Xplorer style, it will be dual HB, with a ToM bridge. I play mostly metal, some blues, I have heard alot of people say EMG's are the way to go, however I have tried emgs before and didn't like them, waay too muddy in clean channel.

I play mostly Metallica (from 91's black album, to Kill Em All), A7X, Megadeth, ACDC, Some GnR (Pre-Original Band Breakup), early ozzy (Crazy Train, Flying High Again, Mr. Crowley, ETC.). Iron Maiden, Some Killswitch Engage, some Disturbed.

I am currently using a Vox AC4TV with a Distortion pedal to get my OD/Distortion without cranking my amp.

anyone have any suggestions on what 2 to get? Price doesn't matter, I would rather have a $600 UPGRADED set of pups in a $400 guitar than have a $100 STOCK set in a $1000 guitar.

Let me know if i can be more specific in what i am looking for. thanks

For that setup it sounds that A Duncan JB/Jazz or JB/'59 combo would be good. It will give you enough power for the metal stuff, but will still clean up for the lighter stuff.

Since you are doing blues, I would recommend against active pickups. They are good for the heavy metal stuff but they don't have any dynamics so blues and stuff might be a bit hard to do.

This is terrible advice. Even worse than the useless dry, sarcastic comment I made.

I'm too old for the Jim Morrison look now. When I was gigging I had a fine arse.
