You'd probably be happier with the Peavey. It's better quality than a Marshall MG and its a tube amp. For 200 bones it's not a bad deal.

That amp specificly on its own would not be good for metal. But its a $200 tube amp, if the clean channel is decently clean, you spend another $150 on a good used distortion pedal "i suggest ampteaker tightmetal pedal* and you can have a killer metal sound.
