Wrote this poem for school in like 10 minutes. Shit just flowed. What do you guys think of it?

Time has since been forgotten,
it has been so long.
Will they continue too mourn?
Will their shades be drawn?
They have no idea,
of the paths I have worn,
Why the soles of my shoes have since been torn.
I have fought for them:
my family and friends,
the innkeeper’s daughter,
the farmer and his hens.
They will never know the pain I have had,
how could they?
They have never left this land.
The wounds have since healed,
the pain is now gone.
The only thing left,
Is for me to live on.
I might be called,
To dismiss fact from fiction,
To tell them the story,
of the true premise of my mission.
They will soon be uplifted,
from anguish onto relief,
They will make the transition,
from unfaith to belief.
I have traveled far,
from mountain range to hillside,
more than far enough,
for the pain to subside.
My face has been scarred,
my legs have been maimed,
Will they recognize me at all?
Will they remember my name?
I miss my children,
My wife and her smile,
I know ill see them soon,
though it feels like a while.
The wounds have since healed;
The pain is now gone.
All that is left,
is for me to live on.

its a nice poem. but a huge mistake would be to consider poetry and lyrics the same. if you look more into, which you totally should, you'll learn that eventually. again, its a cool poem.

Yes that is my problem exactly, I can write a full song on guitar, with an intro, a verse, a chorus, a bridge and a solo but I won't be able to think of a melody or lyrics...but then I can come up with a poem like this. It just gives me hope...

lyric writing and playing an instrument are the same in that the more you practice, the better youll get. i like to read lyrics of songwriters i really like and determine what it is about them i like, then try to model that. the more you practice, the better youll get.
