JJ are always good.

Tung-Sols aren't bad by any means.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

6L6 is the name of the tube. GC and G are different subtypes. Google is your friend.

There were G GB and GC. They can handle higher plate voltages respectively. It was simply the development of the tube. G meant glass, then B and C were newer versions.
TungSol 6L6's are one of the better tubes by New Sensor. They aint no JJ and SED are even better but they should stand you in good stead. Who knows what the Rubies are, they are a rebranding outfit. Chances are they are just a New Sensor valve of some type.
