long story short im struggleing with alternative picking for more complex songs, anyone got any tips?

Slow it down and break it up. Lets says you are playing something like this

E: ----------------------
B: ---------99---------
G: -----88----99------
D: -77------------77--
A: ----------------------
E: ----------------------

Lets say it was all 16th notes and repeated.

Let your meteronome to 60BPM and every second you have to pick 4 notes. So just say aloud, DOWN, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, UP.

If need be slow it too 30BPM but make it constitent and clean!

That's the short explanation.
