I was wondering: what's the main difference between a Mesa Boogie Mark V (or even IV) combo and the head version -with a cabinet mounting for example the same speakers?

well one is a combo and one is a head...

But the size and the fact if it is open or closed back will change how a speaker sounds.

The electonics in the amp are the same.

I'm obviously talking about the sound..

depends on the cab you connect to the head honestly. size, open or closed back, speaker type all change the sound.

If you put the head on a cab that was exactly the same as the combo, I doubt you could tell a diffrence.
