Some people like arguing
But boys will be boys and girls have those eyes
that'll cut you to ribbons, sometimes
and all you can do is just wait by the moon
and bleed if it's what she says you ought to do

i wonder how many theory-heads even play guitar as their main instrument?

i compose far more than i play guitar or bass

It seems like UG is filled with pretentious douches who try to compensate their lack of guitar skills with theory. Theory is important but nothing to argue about. No one's going to become the next big musician from unlocking a hidden pattern/scale within music theory. This is music, not math

You were here long enough to know that it's always been that way.

sorry to burst your bubble, but absolutely is math. In fact, one of my music professors a couple weeks ago was talking about how people are so reluctant to accept this fact.

Without theory the music you know play would not exist. Most of that stuff is probably a lame I IV V progression in the first place. Try playing a piec by J.S. Bach without knowing any theory and see how easy it is. I would venture to say not easy at all.
And for the record I am a guitarist and I play/use theory every day.
