Tied notes are two notes that are connected together, forming one note. For example, two tied quarter notes would be the same as playing one half note.

If it's two different notes, it might be legato, which basically means to play smoothly and beautifully. If it's the same note, then you just hold the note the length of the two tied notes combined.

Don't be stupid. People in the Pit don't play guitar. They're too busy being vile.

You don't have to know guitar to know what tied notes are.

Also two tied notes would indicated eighth notes. An eight note is a divided quarter note, except the eight notes have tails (or flags). Each tail or flag represents a division in time (1 flag = eighth note, 2 flags = sixteenth note, 32, 64, etc etc)

Eight notes in succession are just tied together because... well I don't really know why.

This is not true. Legato does mean to play beautifully and like.... Legato.... but afair legato would be marked with a dashed line on the phrase to be... Legatoized.

I think... Don't judge me if I'm wrong. It's been so long D:

Not the same as a tie. Like, at all.

Either is correct but for tidier and more professional presentation, tie the whole phrase for legato.

You're talking about beams, which are basically there to tidy up the sheet and to give an idea of note groupings/where the beat is.

Ties mean the note played is the length of the first note, and the one it's tied to, and usually used over bar lines. So a crochet tied to another crochet is played as a minim.

Tied notes have to be the same. Say you want to play an E for 3 beats of a 4/4 bar. You could have a half note, and tie it to a quarter note. It would be the same as playing a dotted half note, you just let it ring for 3 beats.

A slur is when you tie two different notes together. I.E. and E to a G or whatever.

You, good sir, have not gone over to your friends house after a hard night of drinking to find 2 dudes passed out in the same room both holding their own flaccid cocks in hand, passed out, with porn on the tv.
