i have a 99 subaru legacy outback. i bought it for 2,000 and the only key it came with was the valet key so i can't unlock the doors manually. i've been relying on using the clicker to lock and unlock it but now i've lost that too. i can't pry the door open and use a hangar to push the unlock button for there's no frame around the glass and i don't want to break it. any tips for getting in that don't involve a slim jim or jigging keys?

Remember that scene in The Wire where the kid opens the teacher's car door for him?

Do you live in inner city Baltimore?

Use a metal ruler. It takes ~30 seconds. I do it at work all the time.

Haha I'm not sure if I am either, I highly doubt it will work but it may be worth a shot.

Is your job being a car thief...?

Lmao, no. Mechanic. The amount of shitty customer car's i've had to break into.

But the technique is always the same. Gently bend back the lower window sill trim, and put the metal ruler down between the doorskin and the window. Then you simply want to tweak the lock rod.
