Just wondering...

Do record companies have creative control over artists? For example, could the record company force an artist to use pitch-correction (auto-tune)?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've been wondering about this lately.

The only way i could imagine that happening is if the singer sounded god awful on a mixed track.
I do know some musicians don't mind. Some also use it for live shows. Sick sad world.

The way i see it happening is they'd probably mix it into autotune without your knowledge, which would probably boost your confidence or something.

the companies just want to make money (rightfully so, I guess. that's their job), so yeah, they can probably do whatever they want when it comes to that kind of thing.
