Ive just built an 18 watt clone(lite IIb version) and it sounds slightly harsh to my ears and I am wondering how to solve this. The amp is just the normal channel and has a solid state rectifier(going to add some variable sag resistors soon), carbon film/metal film/metal oxide resistors, mallory 150 and normal electrolytic caps and im running it through a marshall 2x12 cab with Celestion G12c (like G12h) speakers. Im using EH 12ax7's and JJ el84's which have had about 3/4 hours on full volume. Im just wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how to tame the harsh/shrill high end so that the amp sounds fuller and warmer, with a nice smooth breakup. Thanks for any input.
