This is some of the most epic metal I've ever listened to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vz-ud3RnoA

I didn't even know about this until last week, and I'm really impressed with it. ICS Vortex was the bass player and clean vocalist from Dimmu Borgir, but his departure led him in this direction. I think he made a wise decision.

Normally I'd suggest Opeth. I can't seem to get bored from their music. Devin Townsend and Nevermore are also the same way in my book.

I still need to listen to OK Computer all the way through, I've listened to Kid A through and through several times though. In Rainbows is their best imo.

Might help us make relevant reccomendations if you tell us who the 4 interesting ones were, TS.

I've not yet listened to all of In Rainbows

and TS, listen to BTBAM, but don't be one of those kids that blow them nonstop.

Yeah, it's cool to own Colors, and it's cool to go to their show, but 900 plays on your itunes is probably too much.

I think it's good and fine to listen the shit out of a band. But when a person turns to rampant fanboyism... that is when they start blowing the band.

**** outta here. Lil Wayne's the shit, now you've got loose bowels.

I've really been into Periphery lately. It's metalcore with djent references but Misha Mansoor is an awesome guitarist. Also try Haunted Shores and Veil of Maya if you haven't already. I know, I know, all "metalcore" suggestions, but Rock is too hard to suggest something new for.

+1 Colors was awesome.

Edit: How are Periphery not metalcore...? You can't just call them djent...

Please.

It starts and finishes so strong, but Sun of Nothing, Prequel to the Sequel and Informal Gluttony really pull it down.

Except for Sun of Nothing's bright moments, those are awesome. The la-la-la's? Hellz no.

I enjoy the Parallax more than Colors too

It's funny because I agree with that analysis.

Edit: Moreso with Prequel and Informal. The second half of Sun of Nothing is great.

I listened to sun of nothing on acid, and I assure you, it is the most amazing piece of music ever written. I floated towards the sun.

Agree, except the part with Prequel. And Informal Gluttony. And Sun of Nothing. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that Ants of the Sky is the best song on the album and White Walls is the worst.

I enjoy the Great Misdirect more than Colours

brb, listening to Colours BTBAM's discography again for the first time in ages

Now, he didn't say, but I think TS was looking for music.

Kidding.

I do want to know what 4 bands you've found are. Paul Gilbert (whether he's solo, Mr. Big, or Racer X, it doesn't matter), Buckethead, An Endless Sporadic, Scar Symmetry, Dream Theater, King Crimson and many more are favorites for me, check them all out.
Save a trip to the RT!
