will fit it but i dont know which adapter id need to connect it to a regular guitar cable. can someone tell me or provide a link to a musicians friend item?

You need an audio interface to get it to plug into your computer. Something like this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/shure-x2u-xlr-to-usb-microphone-adapter

i was hoping there was an adapter that let me connect it to a standard guitar cable. then id just use another adapter to hook it into the line-in port on the computer

You can do that, but your better off buying the shure microphone to USB thingy for a balanced signal that records properly. Next time do a little more research.

Edit: If you want to hook the mic up to your microphone input of your computer you'll need these

I suggest you just go buy an interface like this though, much easier to use and sounds better

can you tell me the difference of sound that the usb gives compared to the regular cords?

I agree with buying an audio interface, as it will give a much cleaner, clearer sound compared to just using a lot of adapters into your computer's standard audio card. Audio interfaces can be bought cheaply these days, and most will have an XLR input.

What Maowcat has told you is 2 options. Take your microphone directly into the input on your PC or into an input in a Audio interface then into your PC via a USB connection

the 1st option is probably not the best as the input on your PC is going to be okay at best and will not take in audio at a high quality, also it will not give you easy, if any control over the level of signal the mic brings in.

The 2nd option is to send the signal into a audio interface, this will allow you to control the signal via a gain control/level control and then send the signal into your PC in a high quality state through the USB

Side note: If you plan on recording into your PC with this microphone you may want to talk to somebody with basic Music Tech knowledge as if you don't have the basic skills yourself you will not easily record with it as even once you have your mic signal going into your PC knowing how to use software to capture it is still VERY important

Did I stumble into the recording forum? Because everybody is giving serious answers and this is the Pit.

This is 3 pin mic cable at one end and 1/4 instrument jack at the other, I plug the 1/4 inch into a 1/4 inch to usb adapter for recording.

EDIT: also, just to be a killjoy, This is the wrong forum and threads are supposed to have descriptive titles but whatever.
