So im working on a mahogany body SG and im going for a vintage worn look, will the wood be okay if i sand down a couple of patches to bare wood and leave it without a finish?
when u say will it be ok.....what do u mean?
will any problems arise such as rotting n such?
You shouldn't have to worry about it. But seriously don't do it, just give it a few years and it'll be a real relic.
i actually didnt have any intention of doing this untill i was in the process of sanding it down and it made a pretty sweet looking design and i was like hmmmmm to keep or not to keep... wanted to make sure no harm would come before i left it as is
As long as the end grain is not exposed, you will never have any problems with it. If the end grain gets exposed, then the wood will dry out, crack, and other things.
