I make a thread of this nature every year. As tradition beckons, here it returns gloriously to bask in the front page of the forum for three days! Post your recent acquisitions, whether metal or not, along with all the shoddy crap bestowed upon you by your families and loved ones in the name of Christmas...or whatever the occasion may be. Flaunt your favorite new vinyl, reminisce on the past year, scoff at bitter souls, and share laughs together with your hessian brethren! End cheese.

Holiday additions to my CD collection:
Yes - Fragile
Yes - Relayer
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet
Wintersun - Wintersun
Candlemass - Nightfall

I also received a copy of the Poetic Edda, which should be an interesting read.

Commence!

I would imagine 6 June, Ebenezer.

My dad paid me for the Tool tickets I had already ordered (January 28th in Boston, if any UGers will be there), and Yob are opening the show. That's pretty much the only metal-related thing I've received.

One of my primary Christmas money purchases is going to be a good set of headphones; I'm considering the Grado SR80i's, although I may want to splurge and get the Audio-Technica ATH-AD900's. And, of course, I'll be spending it on music and merch.

I also have a birthday coming up, and I'm looking at bass distortion pedals. My brother is getting a Swollen Pickle for his guitar, so I'll see if I can snag it a couple of times to try it out.

Haha 12 monkeys is great stuff. Seen Brazil yet? Same director, equally as mental.

Got the usual socks, underwear, and beer. Never fails. Going to buy myself a new mp3 player, as I lost mine the other night like a goon.

New Opeth, new Megadeth, Individual Thought Patterns reissue, self titled Metal Church, some other cds I can't remember, and a Friday the 13th movie boxset and hot sauce

Nothing interesting at all! I got a bottle of Leffe from one considerate relative. But that's about it.

My family are utterly miserable. I look forward to the day I can utterly ignore the lot of them.

But alas! It is Christmas, so it is time for alcohol, ganja and Skyrim.

I'm not even getting a fucking Christmas dinner. FML.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

**** that. Christmas dinner should be nice but I lack a cook that can adequately prepare it. Dry turky and dessicated pigs in blankets...

Chicago Town pizza here I come.

My parents tried to get me an original pressing of Fester - Silence and ended up with some strange 1999 remaster I've never seen before, with different tracklisting, a different logo and weird artwork. The package also came with promo copies of Killswitch Engage - Alive Or Just Breathing and Moonsorrow - Kivenkantaja from the early 2000s. Very confused right now.

Did however get this shirt:

I got a pretty bitching jacket. Skin, black. I feel five years older wearing it but it's damn good.
Other than that: some shirts, aftershave and a gift certificate.

These don't sound like very good ambitions when driving...Judas Priest makes people want to go 200 mph, and Realm of Chaos is now an album for ramming shit. You are dangerous, dangerous people.

I got Skyrim at long last.
Caught up on some albums I should probably already have owned in the form of:
At the Gates - The Red in the Sky is Ours
Autopsy - Mental Funeral
Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon
Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon
Disma - Towards the Megalith

Got the first Harry Potter in Latin so I have something to practice on.
Got Lovecraft's Necronomicon, Pratchett's Illustrated Eric and Eric Rucker Eddison's The Worm Ouroboros.

And among other bits an old school slab of treacle toffee with a hammer to break it, which is brilliant.

Thanks guys, I'm immensely happy with the CD. Malone actually mailed it to me, together with those books in the picture; he's a very kind and generous person to do something like that, IMO.

(If anyone's interested, the books pictured form an original print of Heinrich Schenker's Der Freie Satz, a work about a special kind of musical analysis called Schenkerian analysis. Even if you aren't well versed in music theory, some of the basic notions behind it might be of interest to some of you guys here.)

Isengard - Vinterskugge t shirt
Summoning - Oath Bound t shirt
Charred Walls of the Damned - Cold Winds on Timeless Days
