im about to buy a line 6 M5 tomorrow for the delays and silly effects, but I was wondering where I should put it in my setup. I run my guitar into an overdrive into my amp. so should I put it before the OD, after, or in the effects loop?

Broadly speaking, delayed distortion sounds good, distorted delays sound bad. So you'll definitely want it after the overdrive, and if you use amp distortion (which I assume you do, Mister 6505), you want it in the loop.

Might be worth experimenting with it both ways, though. You might be that one guy in a thousand who likes the tone better with the distortion first. There are no hard and fast rules here; you pick whichever sound you like.
