Looking for my first bass and bought my search down to these two basses and I can't figure out which one would be best for me.

Ibanez SR400QM
Ibanez SR370M
I am looking for something versatile but mainly for bands like Muse and Metallica, the only differences I can see between those basses is the wood, pickups and 3 band EQ on the 400 so I am wondering what would be better for my needs.

Thanks.

I would personally take the SR400, mainly because I like the extra tone shaping opportunities of the 3 band EQ.

Why those two? Have you even played them?

Because I looked around at what is available locally and I decided these are the two I like the looks of the best and seems to have the best reviews.

You need to play them, period. The thing is they are both great basses in the Ibanez line but do have their differences. Reviews, esp. if they are on a major seller's site should be taken with a grain of salt. And ultimately, you are the person who has to play the bass so even if 100 people don't like a bass and you do, ultimately that's what matters.
