I have this acoustic guitar, which I would like to put some bass strings on. Just E-A-D-G. Is it possible?

umm..... I don't think you can tune bass guitar strings to guitar tuning. The tension would be really frikkn high. Not sure though. I'll let someone else answer this.

I'd guess there is a high probability that the truss rod would not handle the high tension.

Something in the back of my head just screams bad idea.

not that thats a bad thing...

Not a good idea. You'd probably warp the neck, besides, the nut wouldn't be cut for such thick gauges anyways.

I was just thinking the same about the nut.

I also doubt that the strings would fit through the peg heads.

Gear:
Partscaster/Tele into a bunch of pedals, a Maz 18 head, and a Z Best cab.

It wouldn't fit the tuning pegs, nut slots, or bridge holes. As well, I'm quite certain you would develop cracks and stress fractures because bass strings have significantly more tension than acoustic steel strings.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ
