I think Adobe Audition may be obsolete now, but it's fairly intuitive.
Audition has both multi-track mode and edit mode and comes with a set of drum and bass tracks in a variety of musical styles.

To clarify this to the TS: DAW = Digital Audio Workstation.

The packages listed are all DAWs, but the term also covers digital multitrackers - it was originally coined to separate them from analogue equipment and has since grown to encompass the software packages in addition to the purpose built hardware which is also worth considering if you're just looking at ways to start recording yourself.
