Genre: 90's alt

Nearest big city: New Orleans/Gulfport, MS

Current gear: crappy Frontman 15

New or used: open to both

Looking to upgrade my practice amp but am looking at $300 at the most.

Would like something tube but understand that's a tall order. Not totally against modeling amps but am not interested with anything with Spyder in the title.

Many thanks in advance.

Epiphone valve junior? Don't assume it's bad just because it's an Epiphone

I think they're ok, nothing that good.

TS, what genre/s?

Good for the price though, In England you can get one new for £120 which is only a bit more that some of the solid state practice amps. The Valveking is definitely better though

+411?

250 is a really good price for the valveking. Get it. And if you end up not liking it sell it for more and make a profit.

The VJ is a great amp (check sig), but it's got a single (clean) channel. Unless the OP wants to crank it for overdrive, he's going to need some pedals if he wants to shape his sound any.

You probably won't want another Fender after having the Frontman 15... I had that with my Fender Squier and it was a piece.

But then I moved on to a Line 6 Spider III 75w which I didn't particularly like (and was too big).

But now I have a $200 Fender Super Champ XD and I am satisfied. The step up to a real tube amp from a solid state is very noticeable. The amp is loud far past my needs as a bedroom amp at only 15 watts. As a matter of fact, it's louder than the aforementioned Spider III.

I'd say its a very good amp for the money.

No...I have the TV w/ the 10" speaker and it won't do what he's after. It has an honest clean channel and a good drive sound. But it's pretty bright and the tone knob does take away the treble but it sounds muddy then.

Get the valveking.
