It's been a while since i entered the pit but i thought i'd start with this, vote for the best movie of 2011 and i will compile the list. I will do the list by giving top choice 3 points and so on and rank them accordingly.

When I go the the theater, I'm more hopeful that I'll see something that I can describe with by saying "woah cool!" instead of some deep life-changing experience.

Here's all of my ratings for films this year:

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: 9/10
X-Men: First Class: 8/10
Kung Fu Panda 2: 8/10
The Inbetweeners Movie: 7/10
Pirates of the Carribean - On Stranger Tides: 5/10
Ironclad: 5/10
Hobo With a Shotgun: 5/10
Bridesmaids: 2/10

Let me elaborate a bit.

Dragon Tattoo was fantastic, and I will probably only enjoy it more when I see it again. Also probably the only time I will ever say an American remake was superior to the original.

I wouldn't normally put a film like X-Men in my top films of the year but I thought First Class was the best in the series by a clear margin.

I don't usually watch kids films but I liked the first Kung Fu Panda a lot and I felt like watching the second. I found it to be even better than the first, and Gary Oldman's voicing of Shen the movie's villain is genius.

Inbetweeners was ok. I was a fan of the series but it got old extremely quickly. I was expecting the film to be basically the same but it ended up surprising me. Some parts I would have changed or removed but mostly it was enjoyable.

Here's where we enter the not-so-good film territory. Pirates 4 was both unnecessary and inferior to the previous movies in the series. Captain Jack's acrobatic sequences were no longer amusing as they used to be, they became drawn out and almost comic-like. The character of Blackbeard was ok but not enough to save the film. I will not be watching 5 or 6 if they are made.

Ironclad I don't remember much of, except that it wasn't very good. Had a fair few reasonably well known actors for such a low budget movie.

Hobo With a Shotgun I knew was going to be bad before I watched it but I watched it anyway because I enjoy a bit of gore. I don't understand what the film was trying to accomplish really, and I don't intend on watching it again.

Bridesmaids is an odd one, I had heard it was very good and even heard rumors of possible Oscar nominations. I have absolutely no idea what those people were smoking. The film was 2 hours of a depressed woman having bad things happen to her, mixed in with toilet humor and an abundance of swearing. The humor seemed to belong in a kids film, but this film was filled to the brim with profanity so I have no idea who their target market was.

Those are the films I have seen from 2011. Still need to watch Hugo, Shame, Warhorse, Drive and Warrior.
