I can't sing so it's just the guitar for now lol. I'll either have a friend sing it eventually or do 1000 takes and autotune it until my voice sounds decent. and the recordings a little choppy at parts, due to my computer being terrible for recording... but I'm getting a new one next week that should run like butter

also, any advice on how to work on it such as eq would be appreciated

Re-uploaded with a better EQ as well as reverb and some light delay

Good effort. I can't help with EQ as I am terrible at it aswell lol. A couple of areas that need looked at on this track though:

1. transitions are quite rough sounding at times so maybe slight alterations to the end of one part and the start of the next may help or maybe add a short joining riff to make it smoother.
2. Timing seems a little off at times so maybe rerecord it with a metronome or make a basic drum track to play to.

Overall I like it, mellow acoustic stuff isn't normally my thing but some of the riffs sound beautiful

EQ wise, I would suggest having a look at this. It's an interactive frequency chart that shows you different frequencies for different instruments as well as their specific harmonics. It helped me an awful lot!

Just got around to fulfilling the comments back, except for freighttrain because for some reason UG's player isn't working on my netbook and I'm on vacation so I wont be able to check it out until I get back home

I'm aware of the timing issues, but my computer acts weird with recording so very small sections are either sped up sometimes or stretched out which has lead to most of the timing issues (I'm sure some of them are my fault, but most of them are due to my crappy computer). This will be resolved when I get my new computer next week and get the chance to re-record this song

to freighttrain: could you point me to where some of the awkward transitions are? I'm sure they're there and I'm more than willing to fix it but it's harder for me to hear since I wrote it and it sounds good to me lol

aaron: Where are you thinking another guitar part would be better?

eggo: Thanks for that link it really helped a lot

Kyle,
If your song was purely background music, or if you add vocals, then perhaps more guitar tracks are not necessary. If I didn't add vocals, I would add more guitar at: 0:12 to 0:42, 1:00 to 1:12, 1:23 to 1:33, and 2:10 to 2:33. Music is purely subjective. If you're happy with it, that's more important than what I think. Cheers!
