Im making an Explorer with 3 Humbuckers, I'm looking to get sort of a tone ranging between Stryper and Def Leppard's On Through The Night, High N' Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria albums kinda tone. I am going to put a whammy on this to, so my problem was figuring out what to put in the Middle pickup slot. Heres what I was going to do:

Bridge: Seymour Duncan PATB-2 Distortion
(http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/high-output/patb2_parallel/)
or George Lynch Screamin' Demon
(http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/medium-output/sh12_george_lyn/)
Neck: Seymour Duncan PATB-1 Original
(http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/high-output/patb1_parallel/)
Mid: ???
I was thinking maybe just throw in a PATB-3 Blues Sarasceno (http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/medium-output/patb3_parallel/) so that I would have the full PATB setup, or should I just throw in a neck '59 or JB?
lemme know what ya guys think, thanks

stef carpenter from deftones used a jb in the mid position for a while (when he used six strings). you could use the bridge patb-1 for the mid slot. i reckon the 3 patb humbucker look would be nice, and all 3 have stellar reviews in the SD forums

So put the PATB Distortion in Bridge, then put the PATB Original Bridge in Mid, and PATB Original Neck in Neck?

My buddy bought two Strat sets and wired them together (neck to neck, middle to middle, bridge to bridge) in a crappy Agile LP copy. It had a different sound that was cool with a flanger, but not what you're looking for.

Depends, I don't know what pickups go good with plywood. EMGs will make it sound like every other EMG guitar though.

A rule for you, neck and middle pickups are always the same. (For humbucker guitars)
