Like most guitarists, I started on a cheap Squier Strat. As I progressed, I realized how awful this guitar really is, but it has sentimental value to it. I find myself playing it less and less, and I want to mod it until its Fender quality.

I know what I want as far as electronics go, but I would like to know which hardware mods can be done to make tuning more reliable. I don't use the whammy bar, and I don't want to route for a Floyd Rose.

What are your thoughts? New Tuners, Bridge, Neck, or other?
Block off the trem, and get yourself I decent nut for the neck. I'd probably go for a Graph Tech one myself. That or a Tusq one. You could look into new tuners, but I found the ones that were on my Squier were damn good anyway
