THIS IS THE SUCCESS THREAD!!!

I've been lurking artofmanliness.com for a second and it has reminded me that there are other uses for the Internet besides trolling the Pit, haxball, and porn!!! Namely bettering yourself and becoming a BOSS HOG GANGSTER.

So if you want to talk about readings on how to influence people/reading body language/intelligent investing/whatever, gaining and improving new skills, keeping your resolutions in check, or just sharing your SUCCESS stories in hopes that some of your prowess rubs off unto your fellow Pitmonkeys, GTF in here!!!

I decided to make this thread when I devised a sleep schedule that works for this coming semester following the Everyman Cycle:

THINK OF ALL THE TIME FOR ACTIVITIES!!!

And to start this legendary thread off, here's sharing a little more love:

This thread has excellent potential, don't kill this.

Does anyone have consistently successful tips/methods on picking up random bitches in bars or whatever?

I advise against this. Sure, you only need about 2 hours of sleep a day to feel refreshed and alert, but the other 6 hours have a purpose too, i.e. stopping your immune system melting into a useless mess. You'll figure that out a few days in though.

Today, I spent an hour observing mosquitoes and now I know how to catch them with my hands without killing them.

Oh and I'd love to get back to a monophasic sleep cycle. I'm kinda on Everyman now (unintentionally) and I can't get back to normal.

Cool links TS keep that stuff up, although I don't have time to contribute right now, I am curious to see where that thread is going.

I've put some research into it and followed some blogs, and after people adapted to it, they said they felt much more refreshed from 4 hours than monophastic sleep [one on bb.com even was able to put on muscle during the month he did it, until quitting for job conflicts, so the REM cycle you get through the method is efficient enough to repair the body more than just long term nervous system sustainability (cit needed LOL)]

I remember hearing about some book for people who want to become proffessional musicians. I can't remember who it was by, but I think it was called The Big Gig. That sounds like something an aspiring musician might want to read.

I shall now go and see if I can find more about it.

EDIT:
The Big Gig is much more than just an intriguing and comprehensive insider's guide to breaking into the music industry as an independent musician. Compelling and thought-provoking, it is an excellent resource for leadership training, networking techniques, and personal development. The Big Gig is the first book that describes the inner workings of the highly competitive music industry as seen through the eyes of a world-renowned and highly successful musician. The Big Gig provides a template for success by covering the vocational, personal, and spiritual aspects of a musician's life. The Big Gig is much more than educational. It is inspirational, motivational, and life-changing.

Alright Success Thread, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is I failed the Everyman Cycle polyphasic sleep challenge. Went a solid 3 days, and the naps were starting to get me very well rested throughout the day, thanks to Sleeping Beauty mp3 from I-Doser. Felt very alert on it.

Problem is I had to change my schedule around, and between that and gym it is impossible for me to follow it.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!

I am 3 days sober and feeling great! Following this Kris Gethins diet righteously and actually enjoying eating the food I make. No class today and did my grocery shopping so I'll have plenty of time to prepare a bunch in advance (brown rice, tilapia, chicken breasts, lean steaks, oats, green tea).

AND on crossfit. Losing 15 lbs in 3 months to get ~180 lbs which I reckon will have me a 6 pack for spring break . This crossfit shit is no joke though. Basically just circuit training every day with all the compounds and cardio and isolation all together in a ****ed workout week. Feels good doing it tho lolol.

Peace out bros, we're hitting up back circuit right now. Success be with you bros. Cool man, alright see ya have a good day bros.

Yes I know this thread was a failure. But I'm using it more for my own self. And to kind of keep me motivated with new goals. You're goddamn right this is a nice blog, bros.

I failed on all of the above these 3 months. I did find out some things that work/don't work for me however.

My Get Better Than The Most Important Person In My Life, Me, Constitution
1. I like Crossfit more than regular 1 muscle/day programs for its speed and intensity. Sadly I never have time to gym between social life-ing, studies, and sleeping in (see 3). As a result I have lost a bit on most lifts. We did discover some tires on the side of the gym outside, so those lifts have gotten better even with lack of following workout regimen.

Fix: Two upper body circuits (Monday hard as ****, Thursday aight) one lower body circuit (Wednesday endurance smaller ~250-300 lb tire flips, play around to find out how I want to approach squats/dls/sprints/box jumps). Night jogs on Tues.

Goal: Strength and power at least maintained, with much more noticeable endurance for both sparring and jogging. By June 1

2. Dieting I didnt follow at all. Shit got bland, and I can't make food good. Basically gave it up instantly. On top of ~70 beers a week, I think I've managed to get slightly more chub around midsection. Which is ****ed. 205 lbs, and most likely all in fat gain this 3 months.

Fix: Just read up on Intermittent Fasting, and am going to try the trial one day/week fast for 3 weeks to a month to gauge effectiveness.

http://artofmanliness.com/2012/01/25/intermittent-fasting/
(check the ebook at the end. After reading it all, it seems pretty legit)

I've always been a guy that can go with just one big meal in the middle of the day and be set, so it'll be interesting to play around with this. Mainly just eat better overall, and have canned vegetables.

Plus since I haven't had anything to eat since 11pm since there is nothing to eat, I figure I'd fast through this Saturday. Possibly just a few glasses of sweet tea and gallons of water.

Eat more clean things that are easy to prepare like eggs, sweet potatoes, cook shitloads of steak at a time and tupperware, so I can't use laziness as excuse to eat the atrocity that is the meal plan. Maybe a Moe's or Chic Fil A on campus here and there, but nothing crazy.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, cut back drinking so much. Thurs-Sats only. And NO beer.

Goal: Feel healthier. Lose at least 12 fat pounds by June 1, regardless if I end up sticking with the IF program for whole 2 months or just start being more aware of my eating/drinking habits.

3. I have been oversleeping like such a dumbass. 10 hours a day sometimes, usually on non-class days (tues thurs fri, since I'm not counting online classes).

Fix: Realize I have more energy on days I don't sleep as much. Play around with a more "forgiving" polyphasic sleep cycle where I can throw in a nap only when I want.

I've gauged my optimal nap time as 29 minute alarms, even though I usually get up before then.
http://www.mikestevens.com/gutenblog/2011/08/23/the-amazing-26-minute-nasa-power-nap/

Don't let self get bored during those morning/early noon hours when roommates are asleep, and end up sleeping the boredom away. **** them, I'm better than that/them.

Goal: Much more noticeable energy and focus this coming week. Start at easily manageable 7 hours, and work down from there to 6 hours when comfortable and so on, going down nice and steadily, while still maintaining muscle strength/endurance/energy/focus/memory.

Other Goals to Keep in Mind
*Meditate more often. To improve self awareness for measuring shit. And disciprine.
*Read in bored/off time
*Play guitar/ Use those swanky Guitar Scales Method/ Guitar Speed Trainer softwares in bored/off time
*Stop passively re-reading course chapters and study smart.

Nor do I believe that by being an obnoxious **** that I make myself better.
