Alright so I'm thinking I need a new amp. Right now I have a Vyper 15w modeling amp, it does it's job but I need something better. I'm looking for just a head my uncle has a few cabs I can buy so I just need a head.

Location - Burlington,Ia

Home/Gig - both

New/Used - new

Budget - $ 800 but if I sell some stuff in my thread in the for sale section it will go up

Genre - Asking Alexandra, TDWP,ABR,OM&M, mainly metalcore but I will need clean's as I like to play some Joe satriani as well

I would prefer to get it through zzsounds.com because I'm eligible for there 4 month payment program. I have been wanting the peavey 6505+ but I have heard the clean's are not the best.

the 6505+ has passable cleans. most of the slander is exaggerated. just don't expect fender cleans.

A "tubescreamer" is a person paid by a guitarist to stand behind the amp and scream at the tubes. This terrifies the tubes into overdriving and delivers a thick, harmonic-rich tone.

6505+ thru a cab has decent cleans, look at the 5150 III 50W head though.

If you don't mind buying used, I'd say a Peavey XXX and an overdrive. Or a used JSX. Both amps can get pretty nasty and clean up well. If you can afford it, maybe check out the new 5150 III 50w mini head. Has fender type cleans + same balls as a 6505, all for $999.

Orange Amps are rather expensive

I know lol but I always wanted to try one, an if they could I would save more to get one. I just watched a couple videos on that BlackStar head an it sound really good on distortion an clean channels. So far I'm leaning on the BlackStar.
