Will a new, high quality sound card improve my recording quality?

Theres a hissing sound whenever I record. My laptop's sound card is "Realtek High Definition Audio". It came standard with the laptop.

Will buying a new sound card worth maybe $50 remove that hissing sound?

Thank you for the help, awesome UG people.

If you're using the stock sound card to plug your guitar/Mic whatever into, it'll probably be a decent upgrade in sound quality, but you should be looking at an interface if you want to do it properly.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

thanks for the help , but that's kinda expensive. I just need something that wouldn't have a hissing sound when I record.

$100-$150 isn't that expensive. Besides, I've never really had good experience with any soundcard under $100 for recording
